I am taking the exam in early September, and I finished my AAMC sample FL (first AAMC material used).

C/P: 55%
CARS: 65%
B/B: 55%
P/S: 70%

Using the score conversion spreadsheet, it gets me to a 502/503 total. Felt discouraged, but not devastated. Still seeing some room for improvement and confidence in success. Although many say the sample FL is easier than the real MCAT, I did find it to be a hit or miss -- the questions either had an obvious correct answer or it's so convoluted.

I would like to get some feedback in what can I do in the remaining time to boost my score to my target (510+). I am now devoted to the TPR science workbooks (doing several passages everyday) and using TPRH Verbal for CARS in addition to my homework from the TPR course.

I haven't started the SB and Q-Packs yet, but will be doing them later this month.

Go over the stuff, try to figure out weaknesses, and shore them up. Hit the high yield stuff hard, amino acids, enzyme kinetics, etc. Have good pace in the exam. Figure out what works best for you. For instance, I recently realized that on the harder B/B passages, I need to sketch up the passage into a note sheet. The more passages you do, the more it helps. You need a combination of content review and maxing out test-taking technique. Keep working hard!

I got a 503 on my first AAMC FL, and a 510 on the second a few weeks later. I improved by IDing problem areas. I got almost all of the MCAT math problems wrong so I needed to go back and shore up my non-calculator math. I also realized there were some glaring holes in my psych content knowledge. I also did all the question packs, these help a lot!

The big thing I'd say is just to accept that you're going to feel discouraged and overwhelmed prepping for the MCAT. It comes with the territory. Just keep up the hard work.

Keep working hard!

Just keep up the hard work.

Thank you! It does feel frustrating since this is the first AAMC FL I used after 3 months of studying. But, I haven't got this score in my previous FL (TPR and Kaplan). I just wish to see some dramatic improvement on the AAMC material. But they will come, in my next AAMC FL 🙂

Work through the q-packs and section bank materials asap. Are you applying next cycle? If so, you can always push your test date back to study more.
