I am a bit confused about some of the questions on secondary apps that ask why are you interested in applying to this medical school? Am I supposed to write more about why I want to study medicine, or should I focus on what specifically about that med school that interests me?

considering the fact it's on secondaries, i'd say to talk about why you want to go to that school in particular. just show that you've done your research on that school and i think you'll be fine.

A question to expand: Is it ok to say here that a school is your first choice (assuming of course that it is)? Seems like a good chest thumping moment for the ADCOM, but yet could seem grovely by the premed.

But to answer the OP question, I think Pancho nailed it.

Ding ding ding! Make it personal to that school.

To Addb: whatever you have to do to ***** yourself out to your favorite school, do it. This is not the time for reservations. Let it alllll hang out, baby.

Seduction is an art. Don't declare your love too early. Show sincere interest. Hint at the deep connection you have. Get them thinking about you. Then, when the time is right, start writing sonnets.

Also, it's good to tailor your approach to the girl. If she's a supermodel, don't tell her she stole your heart. Tell her you think that little space between her teeth is cute. If she's the one with the great personality, tell her you've been smitten since the moment you laid eyes on her, and you've never felt this way before.

😍

That's true. You can't know who you love the best till you've been with them all. Be a porn star. Hold auditions.

I've been wondering: If you do have a first choice school, if you let them know that you'll def come there if offered a spot, are they less likely to give you a scholarship? It seems like my friends have gotten scholarships b/c the schools offering $$ have wanted to make sure they went there and not to other schools where they were accepted.

...Translating to the girl analogy: Is it better to play hard-to-get, yet desirable?

...And the porn star one: If you move too fast, will the ho not put out?

😉

That first one is a good question. And I honestly have no idea.

Girl analogy: You don't want to play too hard to get because there's plenty more where you came from, and if you play too much, he'll simply move on to the next. You definitely want to be desirable, though. You want him to want you more than you want him (though you know you want him badly, too). But definitely show him that you want him. Encourage him. Entice him. :: purring::

Porn: she's a ho; she'll do what she came for so long as she gets paid. In this biz, there's no time for games when money's on the line.

When you apply to medical schools and do applications/personal statements, be truthful. But don't go over the top or mention you got a pet dog called Doc or whatever. Also with the experience of health care assistant work helps as well or any cafe work.

For one school's secondary, I wrote that they are my number one choice. Got an interview there, not sure if it helped but it didn't hurt.
