I've been in correspondance with someone in the admissions office at UQ and they told me I could apply to the school by filling out the application at www.acer.edu.au, but I can't find an application on that web page anywhere. I found the application to take the standardized test, but not to apply to the school. She said that the deadline was Aug. 1, so I wanted to get going on it asap.

Also do Austrian medical schools match well to US residencies?? I'm excited about the possiblity of going to med school in Australia.

Hello jwalst55, (hope I got that right🙂 ,

I think I can help you out a bit with a couple of answers. I am just a student, like you, considering applying to Australian schools.

In order to get to the applications for GMPs (graduate medicine programs) from Acer's home page:

1. click on the link on the right that says: "university testing"
2.click on the link that says "Graduate Entry Medicine and Dentistry"
3.clink on the link (I think it's on the right, and in the main text"
which says: Graduate medical admissions centre)

you should arrive at a page with links to pdf files for the application and information for prospective students.

Just some information about applying. You may select up to two universities using ACER's application. In addition, you may wish to consider applying to Sydney and Flinders directly (each school has direct applications on their respective sites).

In terms of applying to US for residences: there have been a number of questions and answers on various threads on this board concerning that. In general (based on the people replying, I don't have any personal knowledge-) it appears that US citizens don't have any huge problems with applying for and getting residence placements in the states. There has been some discussion about whether it will be an issue that you haven't done very many electives/core rotations in US clinical spots - please see the various threads for this (once again, I'm only commenting on what I've seen in these threads)

I hope I haven't confused you too much🙂

Cheers,

Silenthunder
