How to aquire experience before pharmacy school

Currently a high school student that wants to pursue pharmacy and I've been reading up on it for a while now. I have read that pharmacy experience helps your application to a pharmacy school.
I want to know how I can get some pharmacy experience before applying. I plan on completing my prerequisites at a state college first, then applying to pharmacy school.
All of the internship programs I've looked into are only accepting pharmD students and I was wondering what positions are open for high school/college students.

Get a job as a pharmacy technician or try and volunteer at a local hospital! Or do both! haha

I shadowed a pharmacist for two weeks after my freshmen year in college, which I'd highly recommend. If you tell them you're a high school student, they'll often let you do that. I'd recommend going in person to ask. After that, I worked as a pharmacy clerk. This past summer I got my pharmacy tech license. I guess my point is there are lots of ways to get experience 🙂

A pharm tech would be good, but in reality all they want to see is how you function with patients. So any experience in the healthcare world can really boost your application and interview.

I recommend experiencing pharmacy before deciding to pursue it. Reading about pharmacy =/= experience

Apply and get a job at a CVS/Walgreens and if its still what you want to do, go for it.
