I'm just going to keep it simple for everyone. I'm just about to graduate with my B.A. in psych and looking to take a year off before pursuing my PhD to improve upon my research skills. I worked in a university lab studying mood disorders during my senior year, have a solid (not exemplary) GPA, and a minor in statistics. I have applied to some paid positions, but I know how difficult those are to get so I'm trying to keep my hopes low. Worst comes to worse I'm thinking of doing part time work while volunteering as an RA/RC. My question is, what's the best way to go about this? Should I directly email or call individual researchers or the HR people from their specific organizations? Both? I just don't want to seem too eager and off-putting to them. My primary interest is neuropsych if that changes anything at all. Also I'm in the Dayton/Cincy area if anyone is in the market for some free help 🙂. Thanks for any and all help!
