BEFORE YOU SAY "YOU DON'T" PLEASE READ!!

Go to a very small private college. Pscyh major, only had 4 science professors. One taught most of my science classes and is my premed advisor, obviously going to ask her for a LOR. However, still need a LOR from another science professor. Most recent one doesn't know me really, I didn't do good in his class (got a B), and only had him for 1 semester. Other professor....multiple reasons why I can't ask him, just know NO ONE on campus asks him for a LOR.

The professor I'm looking at his my gen chem professor from freshman year. I did fairly good in his class. He was a founding member of my HS (which I still volunteer at). I run into him on campus every so often and we have a basic chat (very basic though, usually about the HS), so he at leasts remembers me. I don't know how much he can speak about me as a person, but honestly I just need at science professor (my other letters are MUCH stronger).

I'm nervous he is going to say no, just because he doesn't know me on a deep personal level. Advice?

If he says no he says no.. So what. I think he will write it for you though. And its fine, not everyone can have 4+ stellar LORs. I didn't. It is a setback but oh well.

Since you still talk to your Gen Chem professor every now and then, you could set up an in person meeting and ask him if he could write you a LOR for medical school. Then use the meeting to convey why you want to pursue medicine and discuss what he may be able to write about you to highlight your strengths in the LOR.
