Hello all,

I'm an intern (PGY-1) currently at a TY residency. I'm in the process of scheduling my COMLEX level 3 and would like to know if I would need to take Step 3 also. Would having a Step 3 make me more competitive? If anyone has any ideas, let me know. Thanks in advance.

So you didn’t match the first time and have no program next year?

Are you applying for residency or fellowship? The title of this post and your PGY level don’t make sense. Unless you are an FMG who is specialty trained from another country.

I matched into anesthesia, a PGY-2 spot. It's one of those rare programs that hasn't converted all of their spots into categorical 🙂

It makes sense. If I told you where, you would understand 100%.

Got it. As someone who just matched for fellowship. Do well on ITE (how well depends on your pedigree). Show interest in specialty (publications/presentations). Have strong letters of recommendation (ideally from people well known in the field). These are the things that came up time and time again in interviews.

Solid advice. I appreciate it.

also congrats on your fellowship match.
