I was accepted at a school so now I want to cancel an interview I have already scheduled...Should I just email or call the office letting them know I need to cancel, and do I need to explain why? I feel bad 🙁

definitely call. it gives them enough time to schedule someone else. do NOT feel bad!!!! you need not explain. (i am sure they can figure it out 😉.) you are not letting them down. they have hundreds of applicants in the wings who are waiting to move up. they will fill their slots. you are going to be a doctor. savor the moment! congratultions!!! 🙂

I agree with striped sweater. Call them. This is a normal part of the process, so it really isn't a big deal to the school if you cancel.

I understand where you're coming from because I had to do the same and felt a little guilty too. Usually after you call them they'll either say it's ok and you don't have to do anything further, or you'll have to email/snail mail them a written letter or something. Either way, congrats on your acceptance!

Don't feel guilty at all. Think of it this way - you're giving one of the rest of us a chance at that spot. Might I suggest...

susan96: Hello. I'd like to cancel my interview, please.

adcom: No problem. Would you like to recommend someone else we should interview in your place?

susan96: Why, yes, as a matter of fact I think klp14 would be an excellent candidate.

adcom: Great. I'll call her right now.

😍

There is no reason to feel badly. It's about being professional. You're accepted to a place where you want to be. It happens. In fact, the adcoms will probably appreciate you not wasting their time. Kind of like calling and canceling a dinner reservation at a restaurant.

Thanks guys for the quick responses...I need to send in a written letter, but otherwise, I have notified them so it's done. I only have one acceptance so far, and waiting on a million schools, so this is only the beginning, but at least I can start eliminating to save some money 😀 Good luck to everyone
