I know I m not a competitive applicant. I took the MCAT last august and got 27. I just retook it this april. I ve been reading about the DO program and I think I will apply to both MD and DO. But I really need to talk to some D.O. physicians or even shadow one. The problem is I looked around my area ( Orange County, CA) and it's all MD everywhere. Do you know how I can contact to a D.O. especially in the area? Thanks

You could try the medical centers/hospitals that are affiliated with Western University of Health Sciences (in Pomona). My friend found a D.O. to shadow at Arrowhead Regional Medical Center, and I think that hospital has lots of D.O.s I'm sure there are plenty in the area. You could also try emailing some Western staff (D.O.s) and ask them if they know any docs in your area. Good luck! Shadow early and for a good number of hours!

www.ama-assn.org

They list all non-AMA physicians as well. I have found this directory to be more accurate and comprehensive than the AOA one. Keep in mind this directory does not include residents.

If you just want to shadow, chose a hospital near you and go to their website. Most hospital websites (especially non-community hospitals) have resident listings. You'll find DOs that way as well.

my zipcode is 92844. I think I will try to contact either Western or Fountain Valley Hospital. I volunteered at Western hospital ( in Santa Ana) before. Thanks for your advice guys.
