As I understand it, we get 1000 words for our personal essay correct? If I type an essay on my computer and use the word count tool, is this the same way that my words will be totaled for the actual essay on my application?

yes, I based my essay word's count on Microsoft Word

I based my essay of MS word's word count too. But when I cut and pasted my essay into the box on the aadsas webpage, it said my essay was over the word limit.

wow... You wrote that long essay ? Mine was only 600 words and I think only people at Case really read it. Other two, Nova and NYU I don't think they even looked at. I got in all 3 schools.

Yeah, I actually had to cut some stuff out because the aadsas site didnt like the length even though my word count said the length was fine.

At first I didnt intend to write such a long essay, but once I started writing it all just came out.

Yes, AADSAS is defining one word as 6 characters long, I think spaces are also counted. That's why there is a consistancy between MS Word and AADSAS word count.

I also had the problem of overwriting the essay. It was so hard to reduce it too since I had made every sentence to have an impact....but nonetheless I did it!
