Hi everyone,

Since everyone on here is either filling out secondaries, or primaries, or taking their dat, or refreshing their aadsas portal every 3.1 seconds, the obvious and natural question that comes to mind is..

what the HECK DO YALL DO to remain calm/positive/upbeat/maintain a general sense of confidence that you will not need to reapply, that SOMEone on SOME admissions committee SOMEwhere will deem you worthy/not want to punch the next person in the face who asks "hows the application process going?"/not want to the punch your not so good friend who just got invited to interview/ not want to punch your good friend who sincerely says "i just know you will get in THIS time"/think feel and exude optimism/ proceed to want to put your best into secondaries, interviews after feeling like crap in a timely fashion, etc...??

Whatever works for you, let us know. Punching ppl in the face is just NOT working out too great for me.

Hahah...yeah, we all are going crazy right now. But this is the fun part! I think that's what keeps me going - knowing that this is one of the most exciting times of my life (the idea of change and progress, alas!).

I mean, really...we've been planning all of this for years now, and finally it's here. After I took my DAT, I knew it would be an easy ride from here on out. Interviews may be a little nerve-wracking, but I can't wait for all those mini-vacations mid-semester!!!

This mindset keeps me calm and happy. I am anxious about it, but I want to enjoy this part of the process, and SO SHOULD YOU!

If you feel overly stressed, maybe spend your free time doing something very active, or reading a book. Keep your mind off dentistry so you don't explode 😀

I don't know why people refresh AADSAS all the time. The majority of the schools don't even update the AADSAS status. If the school wants to invite you to an interview, they will email you. Check your SPAM box time to time. I used to check my inbox religiously. The one day I didn't check it, I got an interview invite.

And ya, you sound crazy. However, I know exactly how you feel. Once you submitted all of your application material, it is completely out of your hand now. Go get a job. Go volunteer. Go take classes. Go help people. I'm not a religious man by any means, but I do believe in karma. Your seething jealousy isn't gonna get you anywhere.

well said 🙂

Those aren't panic/anxiety attacks. That's called being pre-dental.

Aim lower.

The people who are asking how's the application process just want to see how you are doing. They are not there to make you feel bad. Secondly, You should be happy for your friends that got an interview. Don't be jealous of them.
