How do you deal with criticism on your app when you ask someone to look at it? How do you guys edit stuff? And how should i take critiques advice. I dont want to totally rewrite my app!

Not sure I understand - if I get criticisms then I look at the comments and decide whether to act on them or not. Some things are a matter of opinion and others arise from being blind to your own mistakes. If you don't want to change your application, don't send it out for comments. If you want the feedback, then be prepared to make some changes.

Edit: the most important thing I looked for in comments was whether what I was writing made sense to someone who didn't know the details. I needed friends to look at my research "most meaningful", for example, to make sure I didn't cut out important clarifying details that allow someone unfamiliar with my life/work to understand it.

Have tough skin and actually take their advice into serious consideration. Letting others read through your personal statement, essays, etc. really goes a long way because it provides a perspective other than your own; what sounds good to you might not always sound good to everyone else and vice versa. Get multiple people to read your app - your medical advisor, doctor(s) you know, your parents, siblings, friends, etc. - but don't think that you need 100 different view points. It's all about editing, not rewriting.

EDIT: Okay, it's all about rewriting if your essays/app honestly does suck, but more often than not... it's all about editing 🙂

this is all really wise advise thank you guys! i just need to be reminded sometimes. its so hard writing apps and then having to reedit it everytime someone looks at it trying to make it fit the alotted character count.

I feel ya man. I basically rewrote my PS after showing it to someone. Thanks to that, though, I realized how dry and craptastic it was and pretty much rewrote it. There are just somethings that you can't realize without another's perspective.
