I'm getting emails from faculty at other programs that I was accepted to, but I recently submitted my acceptance and enrollement deposit to GW. What is the proper response to personal emails that actually sound a bit generic? I received an email from one program that said I was one of their most competitve applicants, but then it went on to talk about the basic information about the program. It was from a faculty member at a program I really wanted to go to, but financially couldn't afford. What would be an appropriate response? OR can these types of emails go unresponded to?

Thank you for the opportunity to attend your institution. Due to financial restrictions (academic fit, whatever, fill in the blank), however, I have chosen to attend another program. Or, you can keep it even more generic and leave out the reasoning. It's really not anything to stress about, just don't be rude, whiny, or ramble.

Is there an option where you can click "no?" That is what I did.

I sent all of the schools I declined an email. It said thanks for the opoortunity, unfortunately i will not be attending because I chose to attend another institution, but I hope this opens up the opportunity for another deserving student. I would at least respond, because what if you want to apply to these schools later for a PhD?

Huh... both of mine sent cards to send back in.

Should I be emailing them too or something? Is that more polite?? ....

No, some schools provide reply forms, some don't.
