How to describe experience, volunteering + part time + full time

Hey All,

I have a question about how to designate a work experience I had that spans a couple different categories and multiple time periods.

Summer after Freshman year: volunteered at a BU department dealing with hospital management
Summer after Sophomore year: was hired at the same BU department for part time work
Summer after Junior year: Program broke off from BU and started it's own company which I worked at part time
Post grad until now: full time job there

How should I list this experience? as you see it started off as volunteer work at an academic institution and ended as a full time job at a private company over the course of 4 years.

Right now I have it listed as one job experience that spans 4 years. It's one of my "most meaningful" but I've used that space to describe the experience itself and its impact on me.

Edit: one reason I'm asking is I would like to get "credit" for the volunteering part of this, but that may not be appropriate.

I would list it primarily as work experience and perhaps mention in your description that you began as a volunteer. I don't think it would be appropriate to list as a "volunteer" activity given that wasn't your role for most of your time. If it's important for you to mention that aspect of it, though, do so in your description.
