For those of you who have re-taken the DAT, did any of you do worse? I have talked to my advisor at school and she told me about a study done with people that re-took the MCAT in hope of scoring better. Statistically, they did better the first time! She didn't know of a study done like that with the DAT, but it would be a DISASTER since most schools only take the most recent test scores....

After getting some advice from some of you earlier, it is going to be near impossible to raise my SGPA much more than it already is. That is why I am asking. The best shot I may have for this coming cycle is to re-take the DAT and smoke the science sections.

If you improved on your DAT, what did you change in how you prepared for it? What programs did you use? I have heard a lot of people say that if you start studying for it more than 2 months in advance, it is a waste because you start to forget the first things you studied. Any help would be great.

Thanks!

If you put your mind to it, why would it be lower?
if you get a lower score, you obviously didn't study hard enough.

I know a study that was done for SAT's but not for mcats.

Dont worry about studies done on these kind of stuff. here is why.

people can void the tests & no one will get those reported. So you can literally stay till the end of the test and void it. So they are taking it for their first time when they are actually taking it for the second time.

If it makes you feel better. I know a lot of people who took their mcat 2X, 3X and dat twice and ALL of them did better b/c they wanted it bad enough

I'm not saying don't spend time in the other sections, but I really think it is easy (relatively speaking) to get a big boost from both the general chemistry and organic chemistry sections.
When you take a step back and forget about how bad your O-chem class sucked you realize there are only a few dozen reactions to memorize in organic chemistry, and there are only a few dozen types of questions that are asked in general chemistry. It isn't like QR where some odd trig identities may show up, or like biology where there are literally hundreds and hundreds of concepts and definitions they can ask about.
