What is the best way to get clinical hours for a DO application. I am a junior right now and I have no clinical experience. People have told me to just apply as a scribe without any experience to a big hospital, or go to school and become an EMT to get hours as an EMT, or a Certified Nursing Assistant. I have also heard it’s good to become a Certified Medical Assistant. Let me know.

I applied and became a scribe in an emergency department without any prior experience! I believe that I was also a junior in college at the time. I did it part time for about 2.5 years. I loved it and learned a lot!

apply as a scribe without any experience to a big hospital
definitely possible
go to school and become an EMT
also possible, takes 2-6 months depending on the program and how many hours per week you can dedicate to it. best would be during summer, usually lots of classes available.
Certified Nursing Assistant
also possible. 1-4 months. this is what i did, but started as an uncertified HCA, got the HCA (was paid for by company), then got the CNA
Certified Medical Assistant
takes around a year. almost impossible to do during school if you're already busy. great position though, but very competitive for pre-meds due to very few places willing to hire un-certified
