And here's how to integrate your dentist into your HUMMER!

Sorry, I couldn't resist...

Team Hummer® Finished One, Two, Three at "BAJA 1000"

Rick Grabowsky is our Director of Communications. On raceday he is responsible for keeping a record of the split times (the space of time between our HUMMERs and the competition). As our Communications Director, Rick also makes sure that
our race trucks, chase crews and pit locations can all talk to each other during the race. Rick is a modest, quiet sort of guy and a team player who is one of the
hardest working members of the Team HUMMER crew, often choosing to work on statistics and updating our pit support plan long after the rest of us have gone to bed. Rick has been coming out to help support Team HUMMER on and off since 1994, when he bought his first H1.

Communications - Rick Grabowsky
He became a regular member of the team about a year ago when he volunteered to help with our communications. Rick is 56 years old and received his D.D.S. Degree from UCLA Dental School in 1975. He spent the next four years doing graduate work in the Pediatric Dentistry & Oral Biology Departments at UCLA and specializes is Pediatric Dentistry. Currently, Rick is an Assistant Professor of Pediatric Dentistry at the Loma Linda University
School of Dentistry in Southern California.
In his spare time Rick enjoys fourwheeling, which he has been active in for the past 30 years. He also enjoys dabbling in electronics, photography and astronomy but, when asked will tell you that his favorite hobby is crewing for Team HUMMER. Rick lives in Highland, California with Peggy, his wife of 27 years. They have two grown daughters, Erin &
Peggy.

It's funny you ask but, I beleive the hummer ways enough for government standards to be considered a tax right off. Using it for a small business such as a practice would in theory allow one to own a hummer.

Well any vehicle you use for your business is tax deductible because it's a business expense (comes before profit). I think the hummer was (at a certain point) tax deductible for anyone b/c according to the goverment it's so big that it could conceivably only be used for business purposes. Kinda like if you buy a big rig it's assumed that it's for business, while if you buy an m3 you would have to prove pretty effectively that you're really using it JUST for business.

no, there is a tax advantage for vehicles weighing over something like 5000lbs. I think you can depreciate the whole thing in 2 years, or something like that, but I know it's a much better tax advantage than what you get from a regular car.

not anymore, last year was the last year to do it, and the deductible got cut down to only 2k.

His website is pretty trick too. Smart guy.

Thats too bad.

Do you have any idea what the tax code was changed to? High weight vehicles cannot be deducted at all or was the deduction changed?

When I read your thread topic, I thought the dental chair was actually integrated into the hummer, and hence practicing a mobile dentistry.

Hey! That would be pretty cool! Does anybody know of any vehicles that are used for mobile dentistry?

Probably something larger than a hummer (taller, anyway), but who knows.

you can still deduct trucks, but it is probably a standard type deduction meaning you must depreciate it over a number of years, so you only get to deduct a portion per year. So you can't go buy a 50k truck and write-off 50k on that years taxes, you must spread it over a number of years, of which I do not know the number. I know my dads been doing this sort of thing forever.

Sweet! Thanks for the info.
