ok so im an FMG student from Pakistan and wanted to know how to introduce myself in order to get a research position at a lab in the US. So how should i go about introducing my self in the email. any ideas

I'd say the usual: briefly introduce yourself and your background, describe previous research experience, and say why you want to work at this particular lab and what you hope to accomplish/gain during the experience. I'd say be brief in the e-mail, and attach your resume or CV.

It's very common for foreign graduates (both medical and phd) to do a postdoc in the US. You may want to google some more ideas on coverletters to get ideas and pointers.

In that e-mail you can ask the PI if, in case he doesn't have a position for you, he could refer you to someone who might.

so are u suppose to give the CV in the first email or are you first suppose to write a short email introducing yourself and requesting for a position at the lab and then say that if the professor is interested in you , you will be able to give the CV and schedule and appointment for an interview subsequently

any one out there with a response i need to know is it common to give the CV in the first email or subsequently????

Sending a customized CV is helpful, but you gotta get them to read it. You gotta put the best points from your resume/CV in the email or else no ones gonna be interested to click and download it. So it might help to brag in the email a bit.

Also, definitely try to relate yourself to the position. Make sure you know about the research, and mention it in the email, even if briefly.

Try to entice them to email you back. If you plan on working for free (I don't know if you are...) make sure you mention it in the email. It could make all the difference.
