I'm a non-trad with a bachelor's in psychology. I work full-time at a fun job where I deal with a variety of disabilities/disorders. I mean I really enjoy shadowing at the dental clinic because I get to learn some pretty awesome stuff about anatomy, put the amalgam in the mixer/well/carrier, suction, talk to patients, etc. But man, these pre-reqs are just so damn dry...

Physics lecture = memorizing countless formulae + plug and chug
Physics lab = Taking hundreds of measurements and graphing an absurd amount of data on terrible programs = hours of busy work.
Chem = dry numbers + plug and chug + spending dozens of hours trying to enter answers into OWL which are correct but have some minor formatting error.

My only advice is to know that these stepping stones toward dentistry in physics and chemistry will be your last of those subjects. You will only touch upon those again insignificantly in dental school. As long as biology interests you, you're still on the right career path. Do well in these irrelevant courses because your new career choice depends on it (unfortunately).

I felt the same way during college (bachelors in psych, too!). I just wanted to dive right into the dental stuff already! The only motivation that keeps me going is thinking of that glorious light at the end of the tunnel. Just keep plugging and chugging along, OP, and you'll get there 🙂

I effin loved physics and chem

I like a bunch of the concepts we cover but solving problems on the other hand 😴. Biology was pretty awesome sans plants.

Thanks everyone though, I'll keep the final destination in mind when I'm feelin down

Don't forget that once you start life in the "real world" you have to do lots and lots of things you don't want to do. When you get bored, or burned out remember that you are in a position that 99% of the world doesn't even have the opportunity to dream about so take advantage!!
