Hey guys,

Just wondering if y'all had any recommendations for helpful ways to keep up with new developments in pharmacy/medicine. I'm currently signed up for pharmacist's letter and medpage today. Those are the two that I've seen floating around most, but I was wondering if there might be any other recommendations. I would prefer something where I could get a "newsletter" or whatnot directly in my e-mail inbox so I don't have to log-in to five different sites.

Thanks!

Medical Letter unless you want to read primary literature, then I would recommend NEJM.

Many references, both primary sources through tertiaries, now a days offer RSS feeds. I would grab your favorite RSS reader (e.g. Google Reader) and subscribe to sources that you find beneficial (e.g. ASHP, NEJM, Pharmacy Today, Pharmacy Times, also sub-specialties and primary journals, etc etc). This could help condense your logins to one site.

Since many RSS readers also have apps that are compatible across multiple smartphone platforms, this could also help improve portability/accessibility.

Thanks for that...

Seeing as how I'm a broke student, any other

Oh, that's a great idea! I'm also looking for things that are free, so that fits that bill as well...

Additionally, if you're just looking for contemporary issues and/or what's new, Drug Topics is another periodical that touches on both hospital and retail pharmacy issues (and they offer RSS). U.S. Pharmacist is a monthly periodical that pretty much does the same thing. Both provide free access to a handful of articles monthly or so, in addition to subscription privileges.

Also free are abstracts from most journals with high impact factors (e.g. NEJM, Lancet, JAMA, BMJ, J Clin Oncol, Circulation, Ann Intern Med, Clin Infect Dis, etc etc); at least they'll clue you in on what sorts of literature is getting published/attention.

Unfortunately, I didn't really start caring about what was going on in our field until the last few months of Pharmacy school. You're well ahead of the curve; keep up the good work 👍😎

Sign up for the drug updates from the FDA website, medscape, and your doing good with Pharmacist Letter. That's all you really need. On a daily basis I'm getting an email about new drug approvals, new warnings, companies like Janseen settling for 1.3 billion for misbranding Risperdal, etc

I visit CoreyNahman.com just about every day. It's more pharma and biotech related, but it's got good stuff about new approvals, generic launches, pipeline, etc. Basically is a roundup of various other news sites.

Thanks to everyone for the suggestions!

Update: I've been using an RSS reader to keep up with a number of different information sources, including many of those listed above. I've currently got the RSS reader as my home page on my browser so that I see the updates throughout the day, which is working out splendidly. Thanks again for all the suggestions!

Phase II emerging biotech.
Be 5 years ahead. And make a few $ while you're at it.

If you're still looking, a couple that have not been mentioned but are good are the Medscape app (which you can set to specifically give you just pharmacy news- it is a free app too) and Twitter (tons of great healthcare/pharma people on there who post throughout the day everyday about news, studies, analysis, etc. - if you want some specific recommendations, feel free to pm me)
