I am taking my DAT in about a month and I just tried doing a test on crack DAT PAT and didn't do so hot. Now I see that it comes with all these pictures that you can rotate. But i'm just wondering if you guys can give me some suggestions on how to really learn from crackdat pat...I realize that many people said you can improve greatly by just keep doing it. The way that I improved using CDP was a mix of going over my errors and then redoing the exams. So I would try to take a CDP test each morning. I would then look at my errors generated in the report, and then go back to the question and really try and figure out why I got it wrong. I would take each answer choice and figure out why each one didn't work, and then I would take the right choice and see why it, in fact, did work. This way, I built my "wrong answer elimination" technique.
After that, I would take a break and then re-do the same test later in the afternoon. I found that my scores would increase, and I would answer the previously-wrong problems correctly the second time around. Sometimes, I would make an error on my second time taking the exam, and I would then apply the reviewing technique as stated above.
Eventually, once exam time came closer and closer, I would randomly select a given section from any of the exams just to brush up my technique for a specific section. Sometimes I would do them out of order to help keep my mind sharp when shifting from one section to another.
Bottom line though, review your mistakes thoroughly, and practice. Sometimes you may feel that reviewing your errors is a waste of time because you now know what the right answer is and can pick it out easily, but trust me when I say that thorough reviewing of wrongly answered questions is essential. This will help you to avoid "trap answers" that test makers like to include in the PAT section. Best of luck to you!
