I'm sorry if this has been asked before, but I did alot of searches and I didn't find many that answered this question specifically.

I was wondering how should I list hobbies under AADSAS? For example, I spend alot of hours a week training in dance and yoga (...for the joy of it I am not on a professional level but have performed a few times in some reputable places) appx 8-10hrs weekly even during the school year. So, I was wondering if I should put it under ECs and how do i do that? If I were to put it in this section what do i put under "organization" or "position title?"

Also, this is quite embarassing!, but for the summer, appx 6weeks, of my freshman year I worked as a professional babysitter (aka I had a private family hire me..not a cousin or something) for over 20hours a week. Should I bother listing this? I couldn't find a convenient job anywhere else and have worked in childcare before in high school...money is money and I made alot this summer :meanie: (got paid 20$ an hr). How should I list this? aka organization etc etc.

Lastly, how many hours of volunteer work constitutes as being important? For example i volunteered in a hospital for 3months my sophmore year for about 50hours total. Should i even bother? Should i combine this with other small volunteer things I did (for example i went around painting schools and cleaning parks for about a total of 30hours for a volunteer organization during one of my winter intersessions). If so, what would I put under organizations if they are two different organizations? 😕😕

Thanks!
appreciate it...trying to submit my AADSAS this week...don't wanna be too late!

I don't see why you shouldn't put your volunteering hours on your application. 50 hours is pretty substantial, especially since volunteering at a hospital is considered worthwhile. Anything less than 10 hours of volunteering isn't worth putting down. If you list a whole bunch of volunteering activities from like several different organizations with only a few hours each, it may seem like you don't have commitment to any cause.

Maybe it's just me, but I wouldn't put down "professional babysitting." What do you think listing it would add/contribute to your application? If you're putting it down just for the sake of having had employment, babysitting doesn't sound that impressive. Did it teach you anything new, like you really enjoy being around kids, or something like that?

I'd put down professional babysitting, you can say working well with kids is a skill you need as dentist when you get those uncooperative kids who come in as patients.
