How to not CHOKE on Step 2 CK?

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
Hey are you planning on taking the exam soon? I’m planning on taking it in April and wanted to know if you wanted to partner up to study video or live. I’ve completed uworld and plan on taking the Kaplan exam before doing the real deal.

Just n=1, but my experience with shelf exams is the CMS practice forms are significantly easier than the real shelfs and I scored higher on all of them than the real ones. From my peers' experiences and experiences I've read online it seems to vary, but tons similar to mine. For Step 1, yeah the UWSAs known to overpredict a great deal (like >20 points). The avg of your NBMEs is a much better predictor. My reason for bringing this up is you may not be "choking" like you think you are, and the key to you doing better could be addressed at an earlier point in your study

FWIW, I have friends who scored 250+ on CK with similar NBMEs. I think it’s great to consider your scores on shelf exams. But I also think it would be wise to separate shelf exams from CK. It’s a different experience from what I have heard. But again, that’s just what I have heard. I, too, score variably lower from practice exams/UW predictions. Just be thankful your step 1 score is as high as it is. I had another friend who scored mid-240s and dropped 10 points on CK still match at a top tier program for anesthesia.
