Take Top Score / Achiever / Kaplan practice tests to work on timing, accuracy of answering questions, and search & destroy method. If you still need practice try getting your hands on Examcrackers 101 Passages in MCAT Verbal Reasoning an or a LSAT Verbal book. However, be warned the DAT RC is not very similar to these two tests.
Outlined below is my personal search and destroy method, which worked for me.
Use search & destroy which includes reading about two fact based questions at a time and searching the passage for their answer. Find the key words or phrases in the fact based question to use when skimming the passage. Once you find the sentence containing the keyword, read the entire sentence and double check that you answered the question properly. Spend a few seconds to check your answer and quickly read the entire sentence to save you time in the long run.
. .If you encounter a tone or non-fact based question mark it and move onto the next fact based question. You should mark no more than ~5 non-fact based questions per passage. Once you have completed all the easy fact based questions go back and answer all the non-fact based questions, and mark any necessary questions which should be 0-2 questions per passage. Now move onto the next passage and repeat.
. .Check SDN forums for the current difficult RC passages such as Ethics/Piano/FRAP and leave these passages until the end.
i read articles at CNN.com everyday for about 2 months and my reading speed dramatically increased. doesn't have to be cnn...economist, scientific american, nytimes are also good.
i looked up website with 'tone words' explanations cause i've been weak at them since SATs..
i also did GRE passages and other random RC help sites online (even the ones for SATs)
and i think it might help if you get a method down that you know you're going to use.. like i always use search and destroy, and since i've been using the method for a long time it worked well for me..
