I have 3 nbmes to go before i fix a date, could any one of u guys share ur preps b4 u did an nbme online,as in what did u read, hrs u put in..and spacing btw the nbmes??Any input would be really helpful for me @This point because i just am flipping through pages..i just feel saturated and so burned out.
And after hearing how challenging the new tests become i am even more freakyyyyyyy
Hoping someone would help me with some advice
Thanks

I used NBME exams primarily as evaluation tools. In other words, I wouldn't do any reviewing before tackling a practice exam; I'd dive in, give it my best shot, and then look at the score report afterward to see what areas I was strong in and which areas I needed to work on more.

I'd say one could treat it as an exam and review generally if they want, there's just no point reviewing the specific areas (they think) the exam tests because it will distort your assessment score. You will not know what topics will be more heavily tested on your actual Step 1 exam, so don't treat this exam any different.

As far as the spacing goes, it depends on how far out you are. Most people give their last NBME a week to two weeks prior to their Step 1.

Is it not good to review everything before you take an assessment to refresh your memory? If it's been more than 2-3 weeks since I have gone over some subjects then it's hard for me to recall most info on those subjects.

Thanks for the input guys..i guess i will just focus on my weak areas and give it a quick brush up and then just go ahead and do it!!!!!!!!to see what my status is..
Nbme really freaks me out becoz i know its kinda spot on..so always a bit anxious and stressed before i end up doing one...huh

I used them as though they were the real deal. I actually got anxious during the first 4 or 5 questions, but then you get into a rhythm and settle down. That said, the one aspect I didn't like is that there are 4 blocks of 50, since you get like 63 minutes or whatever to complete 1 block. Thus, I used them for evaluation only not for building stamina for the real deal. Usually took a 10 min break in between blocks
