I will begin my dental education at NYU this coming September. I am actually really looking forward to spend 4 years of my life in NYC. After reading some threads about NYU, I understand that it's going to be a tough 4 years. If you are a NYU student and have some advices on how to make the education experience more smooth, Please let me know.

I was raised in a suburban where people don''t do much except hanging out in the church during the weekend. I am tired of such of life. If you have any advices on how to have fun in NYC as a dental student, it will be nice to share them.

Thanks.

If this is all you've ever done for fun, then taking a walk on the streets of Manhattan is going to be full of overwhelming excitement for you. Start with 23rd Street right near NYU and walk on over to Madison Square Park and have a burger at the Shake Shack.

I actually did that when I had an interview at the school. It was pretty exciting. The burger was good. I just recently got into clubbing scene and dancing hip hop. I try to hit the club close to my hometown every weekend, but it's far away from home. If I live in the Queen's area, do you think that I will have time to go clubbing every weekend given the course load? 🙂

Not if you plan to survive financially. I've lived in Manhattan twice in my life. Clubbing is fun, but VERY expensive. Unless you have a rich uncle, I wouldn't plan on going out to nice clubs every weekend and still eating.

yep, clubbing can be expensive if you plan on drinking. if you just wanna dance, that's just cover to get into the club. but then you got fancy clothes, nice shoes, train fare, night out = no studying. that adds up.

if you drink, whoo wee. that's mucho dineros. otherwise, you and a bottle of grey goose can pre-game it up which is the advice i'm really getting at here. and that's drink by yourself 😀. kidding.

It's going to be hard to do while in dental school with giant amounts of debts looming over your brain but once in a while, I'm sure you can part with your benjamins and still eat.

There's plenty of time to have fun. It's more work than undergrad but it's not "insane" like some people make it sound. Especially if money isn't that big of a concern and you get your work done during the week.

Glad you're so excited about NYU! I love it here -- PM me if you have any specific questions.
