So,
any advice about this? I have no idea how to prepare for those types of questions, it just seems so fake.

The link pertains to employment interviews. Does anyone know of med schools that are using this technique?

From what I've seen on the interview section of this site, hypothetical questions (what would you do...?) are far more common than requests to describe past behavior.

On the other hand, some of the secondary questions seem to look for things like "how did you handle an challenge?"

I've been asked these types of questions before in non-medically related interviews. I think the best way to handle them is a type of "method acting" technique. Don't think about the situation analytically, you have to kind of imagine the feelings you would have had, and then the specific memory will come to mind...memory is very state-dependent. If no memory comes, stick with the acting 😀

I've read in interview feedback questions like "describe a disagreement you've had with your roommate or coworker and how you resolved it"

Or do you mean the group interviews (like Northwestern and Hopkins have)where they watch you work as a team and see how you do?

I have to say the best interview I have had so far was at University of North Texas (DO school--rural track) where I had to shadow a rural doc for a day and take a couple of patient histories to see how I interacted with the patients.... it was pretty fun.

Hi Jillibean!

I have an interview with TCOM soon...could you explain to me exactly what it's like? Do they make everyone do this? It would be pretty interesting, since I've taken histories before 😀 .

Send me a private message if you will.

Thanks. 😍

Mayo is a bit of a behavioral interview.

I think they should have everyone do it, but its only if you are applying to the rural track. Barbara Adams will contact you to organize/expalin everything if you are applying this route.

:luck: with your interview. TCOM is a pretty cool school (cool location!).
