how to put a positive spin?

^^sorry i didnt realize i was logged on under my sisters username when i posted this, this is still meant for pre-optometry.

in my particular case, I explained that I matured quite a bit during the year I was sick and learned that I needed to take initiative to get on top of my illness and see the appropriate doctors to get the right treatment, even though I was initially skeptical because of the cost of testing.

This may not apply to your particular situation but hope it helps!

i was really sick my freshman year and it's one the reasons my grades were affected. i was wondering how put a positive spin on this for an interview?

I am not sure exactly what to tell you, but I think it is important to emphasize to the school that your illness is under control, and that it will not interfere with your Optometric education. I would not dwell on specifics of the incident. If your grades have been better since then, I can't imagine that they will dwell too long on it either. Good luck!

I would just use it to highlight any improvement that you had after that initial drop. Maybe not dwell so much into your illness (especially if its a chronic issue that may handicap you).

Just shows that you triumph over adversity. They like that.
