It appears that Murphy's Law and I go hand in hand. I just graduated with a 3.40 Overall and a 3.11 Science. (which isn't including an A- from my Chem elective for some reason...) Anyways, I got 4 C's - Org Chem I, Org Chem II, Genetics, Toxicology O Chem I - got dreadfully sick, passed out during an exam and missed 3 weeks of school. I managed to make up all my other classes, but my O Chem prof wouldn't let me make up my exam. O Chem II - new prof, great prof. But I still lacked the foundation. I could do all the stuff I learned, but when it came to finishing the synthesis with 1st semester material, I was lost. Genetics - had a solid B. Got a call 10 minutes before my final that my mom broke her hip, bombed said final, ended with a C+. Toxicology - got into an accident on the way to the final. Rushed out of the ER to make it on time, too dazed to notice that two of the pages were stuck together and skipped 1/3 of the exam. Suffice to say, I'm not traditionally a C student. I just have terrible luck. With that in mind, my current GPA is pretty low, and I wanted to know - what can I do to rectify this? I heard something of a post-bacc program, but I wasn't sure what it is. Would going for a masters help? Thank you in advance, and any suggestions are welcome.

Don't you mean Doyle's Law?

Anyway, are you considering DO? And how was your MCAT? A solid MCAT could make you competitive for DO.

I thought Murphy's Law was the "can go wrong = will go wrong". Anyways, I took the MCAT blind and got a 24. I'm going to be taking a prep class and hopefully will bump my score into the 30s. That being said, I have 4 years and several hundred hours of volunteer work at multiple hospitals, and research that I've been working on for 2 years (probably won't get published - it's a long study). I'm more focused on boosting my GPA. DO has it's appeal, and I'm sure it's fantastic, but if I can still try for MD, I'd like to pursue that.

SMP, DO, PostBacc to retake some subjects are some options
