While I tend to shy away from acronyms/abbreviations in essays unless previously addressed, is it fine to refer to a school by their accepted/self utilized name to save on characters and word count?

Example

UWSOM - one word, five characters

University of Washington School of Medicine - six words, forty-three characters

I mentioned it written out the first time and abbreviated every instance after. I wouldn't overthink it though

If there is an abbreviated form of the school's name in the Secondary or on the school's website, you can use that.
