How to request interview for Creighton

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
You must be invited to interview at Creighton. It is via e-mail.

I figured out the answer...... they USED to do the informal interview- but now you must be formally invited

Does anyone know how to request an interview for Creighton? I have heard of people doing this before, but I was curious how far in advance I would have to do this. I know that I can request for a tour, but I am not sure how to go about scheduling an interview for myself. If anyone has done this before or has any information, please let me know what I should do. Thanks so much

i didnt apply to Creighton... but im pretty sure that you must be invited by a school to get an interview for admissions.

This is so strange...... I know that I have read a few forums where people have said after a certain date you can schedule your own interview.... but maybe I have completely lost my marbles???:scared::scared:

Not that I would mind if that were true .... but it sounds too good and easy to be true.

Creighton is still the only school that does not absolutely require an interview to be accepted. As far as I know, they still allow "informal" interviews which can be scheduled by the applicants.

If you want to find out more, I suggest you call them up (Patti Churchill specifically) and ask about it. They only do these informal interviews up til a certain time, at least that's what they said last year.

When in doubt, go right to the source. Patti is extremely nice and will gladly answer your questions.

i applied Creighton last year. I did call and request an interview. Even though I went there, they put me on waitlisted, and later got rejeted. So, I believe requesting an interview does not do anything. Well at least you can show them and you are really interested in but i believe if you call, and request an interview, they will probably tell you to come to school in Feb. Because at this time, they already have decided (a few spots are open). So good luck to you all!

thank you everyone for your input..... I guess we are all clear on this now

thanks so much

I applied 2 years ago with the "informal interview" thingy and they didn't seem very interested. This year, I interviewed through the RDEP program which has roughly 400-500 applicants of which only 40 would be interviewed for the 10 spots available at the University of Utah. I asked Dr. Ayers if you can schedule an informal interview with Creighton still and he said that they did away with the informal interviews this year and that only those who are invited by the school will be interviewed from now on. Only those who have been invited for an interview will have a shot at getting accepted. Good luck!

Thank you all for your responses! They all have been very helpful

yea i feel like i've heard the same thing...that they USE TO let you call in for interviews but not anymore but dont' quote me on that.

Has anyone had good expereinces with calling in and getting an interview? If they are interested they will invite you but if not then is forcing them to listen to you going to help, I can totally see how it could but the odds are probably aganist you. Don't get me wrong I want to do anything I can to go but I guess I'm still hoping to earn the interview on their terms isntead of mine yet.

Anyone know if they do still let you request inteviews what the date is to do this by?

Are you sure about this? I called Creighton last week to double-check on my status and the lady I spoke to confirmed that you DO NOT need an interview to be accepted. I know that you definitely need to be invited for an interview to be accepted into the RDEP or IDEP programs. Maybe that's what Dr. Ayers was talking about. It is possible that the admissions lady I spoke with didn't know what she was talking about, but she did say that you may still call and ask for an interview but that it would not have any effect on your acceptance. To be very sure, I asked if it was the same system as last year and she replied that it is.

Okay, so I've already been to Creighton for an interview in October, and this is what I think is right. This year they are starting giving out formal interview invitations via email (what I went to); however, if you have not been offered an interview by sometime in January or February, then you can call and request your own interview. It seems like in the past it might've been helpful, since they didn't do interviews otherwise, but this year I'm not sure. But yeah, Patti Churchhill is Dr. Ayers assistant and has been so nice and helpful everytime I've called. GL! 😀

I went to an interview at Creighton early october, and found out about this while I was there, so this is how it is....

In the past they did not have formal interviews, as the dean at that time did not believe in them. Thus, you could call up and have a tour of the school and meet for an informal interview.

However, in the past 2 years, there is a new dean in charge. He believes in the interview process. This being said, interviews are now formal and you must be invited by email. However, given that most of there acceptances are going to be handed out in December and early January, they do allow for you to book a tour come February, and possibly meet for an informal interview. However, this is a waste of time as most of the spots have already been filled.

Hope this helps, and best of luck to everyone !!!!!

YIKES! i didn't realize creighton stopped interviewing so early! Does that mean that in order to get in on these informal interviews we would have to get an invite by at least Dec at the latest, right?

So what kind of hope or chances does that mean for people who have been complete and are not hearing anything for a month or 2 now? that we have another month or so to hear somethign before it's done for creighton?

This part of your quote is dead wrong. I just spoke with Dr. Westerman who is Creighton's recruiter and he stated that you could get in with no interview. They only ask for an interview if they need to clear a few things up, or want more information about you.

I called Creighton's office a few days ago, and inquired about a tour of the school. They mentioned that tours would only be offered after the bulk of interviews were conducted, and mentioned that after January 15 would be suitable. She (Patti I believe) also mentioned that I could schedule a tour for the 15th, and be able to have a brief interview with Dr. Ayers. However, she didn't mention anything about this interview yielding any definitive result - more like a "meet and greet" was what I felt she was saying.

So have people gotten into Creighton without an interview? I am a competitive applicant, but not an outstanding one. I do have a reference letter from one of the Department Heads of Creighton's Oral Surgery Dept - but I have been "Under Review" for months.

(According to predents) It seems like there are a lot of people who have interviewed at Creighton...
