Hello,

I was hoping that someone could help me out in thinking of how to respond to interview requests I've received. I was thinking of wording it something like "I will gratefully accept the opportunity to interview. I look forward to meeting the faculty and staff..."

How does this sound? Can anyone think of the best way to word this...

Thanks a lot!

Keep in mind you're talking to the admissions staff, hired help, not MD's. So keep it polite, but you don't need to suck up. You've pretty much got it.

"Dear Office of Admissions,
Thank you for your offer to interview at ____. I gratefully accept this opportunity to interview and look forward to this experience.

Sincerely,
__"

I prefer.."i'm so excited that i'm about to wet my pants! See ya'll soon!"

Wait, it is neccessary to reply to interview requests? 😱

Is this only when they ask for written confirmation? Or is this just a common courtesy thing like thank you notes I've never heard of cause I'm out of the loop/crazy?

Well, let's say they e-mail you telling you come in to interview. You will need to let them know that you can make it on that date. They will usually tell you to respond.

However, if there's some online calendar you can choose from, you most likely do not need to respond to the email.

I usually just call them to accept the invitation. It seems more personable. Also I have a very sexy phone voice which primes them for the interview.

Some places email/snail mail you an invitation and simply ask you to email the office or designated individual to confirm or to schedule a date. I never really said "I gratefully accept, or humbley accept..with much thanks"...come to think of it, I should have...damn it! I'm so stupid.

Yeah, I think my only email response was something along the lines of "Dear ___, I was invited to interview at X medical school. These are the dates that are best for me. I look forward to visiting X medical school" yadayada.

Next time I'll try to sound more eloquent.🙂

i reply "thanks for the interview offer. I found no scheduling conflicts and I have already made travel arrangements. Hope you are having happy holidays/day/etc whatever the time period is". that way i seem nice and so they can't change their mind cuz i already have the ticket. then i sign it sincerely b/c i think it makes it more intimate. then i write my name in all lower case letters b/c it shows a sense of humor and my fun side. and i always ask for a reading receipt b/c it shows i'm anal and efficient. NOTE: disregard all lines after line 3 of this b.s.

Just send them a note accepting the invitation. They don't care about your wording.
