I just transferred from a clinical program (which I left mid-year) to a path program (I found a spot outside match) so the last time I studied pathology was during a 4th year elective almost 2 years ago.

Any advice from current path residents on books to read or websites to look at before starting in July? I've been reading Robbins.

Definitely read a grossing manual, either Lester or Hruban. Know at the very least what to do with the uterus, colon, prostate, colon, lung and breast that will be sitting on the counter awaiting your scalpel.

Unless you're starting on a CP rotation, in which case you might consider picking up Steve Jones the first month (but maybe not before you actually start).

When I was a baby resident, I liked looking at the pictures on the site below:

http://library.med.utah.edu/WebPath/webpath.html

It certainly isn't comprehensive but it has good basic information on histopathology of bread and butter lesions.

I don't think reading Robbins is all that fruitful...it's dense. Brush up on your histology...thumb through Wheater just to refresh your mind on the architecture of tissues.
