I have been looking to shadow a physician and I have been running into some difficulty. Any suggestions on how to find a physician that would allow me to shadow them? What about watching certain procedures?

I recommend you call a DO school in your home state. If you do not have a DO school in your area, then your other option is to contact a local hospital and ask to speak with the volunteer department. Then ask them if they have a program or can direct you to one where you can shadow a DO. There is also the option of calling your family physician and/or optomitrist/dentist/etc. and ask them if they know of any DO.

Your goal in shadowing is to become familiar with osteopathic medicine and experience patient contact. There are not any special OMM/OMT procedures that you must see, but try to find a good DO to shadow. By good I mean someone who will speak with you and not ignore you.
