How to study for the MCAT without a class?

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
1. Go to Amazon.com
2. Type in "MCAT prep material"
3. Buy decently rated material
4. Study material
5. Purchase some official prep material from AAMC
6. Crush MCAT

Total price spent: $200-350 (excluding MCAT) - this doesn't take into account all the "hrs" spent studying since that's also a major cost.

Yes. First, buy the AAMC materials including both FLs and Section Bank. These are essential. You can buy them as a pack (that includes the QPacks as well) for like $188 - that saves you money if you're going to buy everything separately. Otherwise, the FLs and Section Bank are bare minimum. I know people who have only used that and Khan Academy and gotten ~40 (new to old conversion) but these are smart people to begin with. Khan Academy passages are a great resource for data-interpretation, especially for B/BC and P/S. For content review, KA is sufficient but you may like books better which cost ~$150 depending on which ones you get. All of them should prepare you adequately although some go into more detail than others. That's all you need basically to do well. The rest is up to your analytical reasoning skills. Oh, and keep up with the scientific literature via journals and read articles each week that you're interested in.
