Ok I am really confused. ALL over SDN everyone recommends DAT Destroyer, most people say its the only resource you need, some people go as far as to say it is "overkill" (?). So I went ahead and I bought it. I opened it and it is just a whole bunch of questions, and really hard questions too... which is totally awesome and great prep... but there is no way I can practice questions now as it has been 4 years since I have taken a gen chem class and there is no way I can remember gas laws or acid base concepts etc on the spot. Plus all the questions are scrambled, as in the topics of the questions are not in order. Please help me. HOW are you people using the DAT Destroyer, please tell what you are supplementing it with? is it just chads videos? Should I buy the "gen chem destroyer" study that and THEN tackle the question once I have reviewed all the gen chem topics??

Please help me out here, I need to figure out how to effectively prepare for the gen chem section.

Usually people do content review (either by watching Chad's videos OR Mike's videos and taking notes), and THEN they attempt the GC problems in the DAT Destroyer 🙂 You aren't supposed to jump in if you haven't reviewed/haven't taken the courses recently cause the questions are hard.

This ^ applies to most of the subjects- Bio, GC, OC, & QR. You should do content review before attempting questions (unless you've taken the course recently or have a strong foundation).

Good luck!

Join our DAT Destroyer study group and ask questions. Dr. Romano also has a playlist of General Chemistry on our youtube channel. The DAT Destroyer is challenging but so is the DAT. Overkill, we don't think so, we often hit 30's on the DAT, check out our most recent test takers.

Wishing you the best...Nancy
