I ve gone through that site DANB.. they say for being a dental assistant we got to give an exam. I ve no idea which books to refer, or wat to study, how difficult is the exam??? As it is i did not get a descent score in NBDE 1 even after so much hard work. I just cant afford to sit back home and prepare only for NBDE, i ve to do a job 🙁 ,, and 1 more exam for tat too.. Tis is really rediculous. I feel as if i ve wasted 5 yrs in my homeland by doing dentistry. Please if some one has taken this lisensure exam for dental assistant, please help me out and lemme knw the details. The sight DANB doesnt state things clearly.

Hey smileawhile,

Not sure if you got your answer. I got my dental assisant x ray certificate last week. Thought i should share my bit with you.

I am from Ohio and this was as per the state requirements.

1. See the website as to which colleges offer the course. Contact them and schedule for the course. Mine was a 8 hour class room course of one day! They also give you the book on radiographes.

2. After you finish the 1 day course, you should work in a dental office and take x rays. Once the dentist is confident that you can take x rays independently, he will sign on your form (you will recieve this form from the college where you took the class)

3. Submit the signed form to the college and they will give you a 'certificate of completion of the course'.

4. Submit this certificate along with a filled application form and fee (mine is 25$) to the state board and they will send you the certificate.

To begin with I think you should check what your state requirements are, guess they will be more or less the same. Hope this helps.

Good luck!
