Hi everyone i just joined SDN even though i've been curious for about a month now...

I'm studying from many resources includin Kaplan, Destroyer, AP Barrons, achiever, crack dat pat and top score. ive been studying for over a month now along with taking Kaplan classes and i have to say i'm not getting the return of investment i should be getting. my practice scores show i'm slow with time and i hesitate too much with picking questions... i have a month left before the real thing in sept and i need some advice about how to increase scores.

first off, ive got destroyer but im not sure how to study from it... what ive done so far is take about 40's from bio 30 and 30 for gen chem and orgo and see how i do in the Dat practice time... pretty crappy i gotta say and i feel i need to catch up by reading from Kaplan to familiarize myself with the material before i answer anymore Destroyer qustions... maybe this is a bad strategy. idk :scared:

Are there better ways of using Destroyer? i know its the best but my concern is i dont want to memorize the multiple choices, i feel i should know how to answer the questions.

thanx

2 options:
1. Read Kaplan (although very basic and shallow), SUPPLEMENT IT WITH ANOTHER BIO TEXT like Cliffs AP bio or Schaums outline for Bio or even ur Bio text from school. When ur done tackle those destroyer questions again.

2. Go through all the destroyer questions and solutions. The solutions are really good and the explanations are from from basic or particular. Some explanations go in depth. While going through these make notes of certain things and or processes u think you dont know too much about and look it up.

If u do steps 1 AND 2 (together) u should be good to go. think thats wat most of us do.

When going through the problems should i try to time myself or just do them without time?

Destroyer is a teaching book; it is very hard and is meant to challenge you. Don’t time yourself go through each question slowly make sure you really understand the information. Of course if the explanation in that back isn’t enough, you can supplement it with another book of just ask us on sdn. If you really know the destroyer and learned it well, you will have a very strong grasp on the material and that should show through on practice exams and hopefully the actual test. Good luck!

How many subjects should i do at a time? i also need time to study and memorize the material i dont know from all 4 subjects

You still have a month to go so don't try to rush it. Quality > quantity!

As you go through the questions and mark your mistakes, look them up to fully understand it so that when you go through the destroyer again, you won't fall for the same mistake as the first time. Destroyer is mean to crush your hopes and dreams so don't worry about getting lots of them wrong (I've been there). Just learn from your mistakes and keep pushing!

Each person is different, so make sure you gauge yourself properly and manage your time! Don't dawdle around! Remember, if worst case scenario is you postpone the test for a week!

Good luck!
