How tough is it to get into anesthesiology fellowship programs ?

Hi , I have completed my MD Anesthesiology from India and am currently working as a Senior Registrar at a tertiary hospital at India. I have also completed my USMLE steps n awaiting ECFMG certification .... i am interested in applying for any of the anesthesiology fellowship programs in the US... well ... i also have a pretty good CV with publications and awards... but frankly, how easy or difficult it is for me to get into one ?

You just have to download forms from the Department's website and send them alongwith the required documents. Have a shotgun approach for rolling the dice and let the magic begin.

Get yourself ready for a backbreaking, below poverty pittance life style.

Needless to say, some fellowships require US residency as a prerequiste so they are useless for you---but there are still lots of places which are looking for cheap labour.

This is a very tough to get branch in the US for international grads. It will help to find out which institutes have this program and the scores required for consideration.

Oh for God sakes---dont feed them ideas. Minimum scores and all that.

There are lots of ifs and buts. The scheme would not let you practice privately----so the charm is only in the field and not the money really---which is nice to know.
