So,I have 1 semester left of classes before 4th yr rotations and while i have learned a lot I still feel I don't know nearly enough to practice on my own. I was just wondering if this is the norm at this point? How comfortable has everyone been working their first year out of school? What part of your schooling do you reach that point where you feel comfortable with your knowledge base?

I'm sure it's "the norm," as in other people would feel the same way too. Preceptors always notice that students they get in July are very different from students they get in April, so don't worry about that yet. As you work with your preceptors, you'll probably learn enough that you will need to know when you are a licensed pharmacist.

I still have one more semester until I am done with my first year. I didn't work my first semester, but I might work next semester.

I think that depends on you, personally. The thing about working in health care is that you're always learning. There are going to be times when you feel comfortable with what you know, and times when you feel that you need to learn more. I see it more as a life-long learning experience.

You haven't even started your rotations yet. 😕

Ok to clarify because maybe not all schools are the same, we do rotaions in community during our 2nd year 4 h a week and hosp. 8 h a week during our 3rd year. The 4th yr rotaions are 40 h a week and no classes. I'm midway threw my 3rd year. Still feel like less than half of what s covered in class sticks past tests. I'm hoping it all comes together in the end....
