When, how, and from whom should I ask for feedback?

Should I ask for feedback from the schools where I applied very early and was still rejected post-secondary (i.e. Harvard, Penn, Yale, Mayo)? I know that Michigan & Case Western probably never really reviewed my application.

I got feedback from CCLCM via email already, but to be honest is was pretty much a cop-out and I think the decision was somewhat random. What should I do about feedback requests when WL's turn into rejections?

Thanks guys (and gals)

I think after May 15th, when the application process is slowing and offices have less work. That's what I hear anyway.

wow, get a grip man.

i think ONOY should not be allowed to start any threads until after may 15.

you obviously shouldn't ask for feedback from any school until all is said and done...meaning if you are rejected by ALL your waitlists. and you would typically only ask for feedback from the schools that offered you an interview since those were the ones that reviewed your application more closely and considered you more seriously.

not really sure what kind of "feedback" you are waiting to get. there are obviously things they won't and can't tell you....if you interview like crap for instance (which has been the theory thrown around about why you've done badly so far) there is no way for them to tell you this....your interviewer wouldn't submit a review that says "applicant doesn't know how to interview well".... interviewing entails selling yourself to the other person and they're not there to critique your sales pitch.

you did get interviews at 5 out of the 11 schools you applied to and you are on four waitlists....despite the fact that i'm really tired of your ridiculous posts and hate the attitude that you've presented on this board a part of me does feel sorry for you and i really do think you will get in off one of the waitlists after may 15. just hang tight until then and if by the end of may you don't have any acceptances you can start panicking.

OP is asking for advice and help. Hold on the viciousness a bit; just because it's anonymous doesn't mean you should rip into him.

In general, admissions offices like to assist failed applicants after the application cycle is concluded (on or around May 15th). In addition, you will get better and more thought out answers if you approach them with specific questions at a less busy time of the year.

Agreed. On that note...

I would only ask for feedback if you get rejected. There is a high probability that you will get off one of your waitlists, so I don't think you should be Chicken Little and do the whole "The sky is falling" routine yet.

That being said, I asked for feedback from one school. I called that admissions office and just asked what it was about my application that was holding me back. In your case, you got interviews so it probably didn't have alot to do with numbers or activities. Your interviews may have been off, or they have seen a ton of people just like you and just didn't have room for more (they are looking for human beings too!)

sounds like someone didn't read my whole post....especially the part where i said i feel sorry for him and that i think he'll get in....however the truth hurts and everything i said was part of answering the question

Also sounds like people haven't noticed the 4+ threads the OP has started. For example, a thread started in January stating his failure this cycle. I understand the need to prepare for the worse, but you can also hope for the best. See what happens with those WLs!!!!!!
