Hi everyone...
Congrats to all those accepted and everyone else for keeping hope alive! I just got accepted at the three schools I interviewed at (to my surprise and delight) 😀
Now I am stressing about how to decide. Between CCOM, UNECOM and Michigan State. They each have great things to offer, but I am leaning toward UNECOM because of the COMPLETE KINDNESS & HOSPITALITY of students and faculty. Plus Maine is amazing, I am from Florida.
Anyone have any strategies you might share about your resources to make a decision and specifically any feedback on MSU?
PS- CCOM seems very good also, and it's only my third choice by a hair!
I thought MSU buildings were a little run-down. Does the faculty and curriculum make up for it??? Any comments are welcome and appeciated!
thanks! momo

I say MSU. They have a ton of residencies, I believe most rotations are done in the surrounding area so it would be easier to make contacts for the future. Then again it depends on where you will be happiest. A good student is a good student and can gain a specific residency no matter what school they went to.

isnt msu the highest priced out of all of em?

if so... that can be of a concern...

I have no idea, if it is that much more than I would scratch that off my list.

i believe it's like 35k+ for out of staters or something...

Yep, you guys are right MSU is about 20k more a year then my other two choices. But my advisor keeps telling me forget the money worry about the education. Maybe she's out of touch with reality? Out of state tuition is @ 49.8k Fall/Spring + 21.4K Summer! That's their "Non-Resident" Total... Including living expenses! Lots of peanut butter and jelly in my future. lol

last time i checked that 49.8 is just plain tuition for out of staters........living expenses and others are extra

Total tuition for the WHOLE YEAR for out of staters is abouy 42K, not including living expenses. Other than that, MSU con't be topped on education, rotations, and residency opportunities, not to mention that Michigan is probably the most DO friendly state in the Union.

I'm not going to offer much advice on one route or another... but I do just want to comment...

Isn't it an amazing thing to have this choice? Don't things shift enormously when you pass from the "PLEASE, ********anybody******** accept me... PLEASE." To... "ok... I have this amazing opportunity now to compare a few schools and decide based on so many different points."

It's a wonderful position to be in... but much harder than I ever imagined. I always thought that if I got accepted somewhere I would instantly be ecstatic--and I am! But I'm also in AGONY over my decision.

Blissful agony.

Good luck! All I can say is... go with your gut feeling. That's what I'm going to try to do.

I totally agree.

we'll be happy to have you here at UNECOM 😍

Remember to pack your Surfboard AND your winter coat. Plus, a nice beach chair for studying by the water. 😀 😀

Congratulations on your acceptances!!! I am from Florida too and agree w/ you that UNECOM definitely is kind and hospitable. That's one of the reasons I chose the school. The first time I stepped onto the campus for my interview, I knew this med school was for me. The students and faculty were all so supportive...that's the type of med school I wanted. I have friends who go to cut-throat med schools where students are enemies instead of friends..no way, not what I want at all! Plus, UNECOM facilities are amazing!! The gross anatomy program is actually ranked alongside John's Hopkin's school of Medicine...If you want to go to a supportive, friendly, and relaxing place, come to UNECOM! It's beside the coast! How good can it get?? 🙂 🙂 Again, Congratulations and best of luck w/ your life decision. 🙂
