I'm doing a complete 180 here and leaving the IT/telecom field and going into the medical field. Medical College of Georgia has a 3 year core+ 3 year PA (masters) program, only thing is, they require that you shadow a PA for 100 hours. Ouch. My fiance is an X-ray Technologists so I figure she could sweet talk a PA, with those nice legs of hers, into letting me shadow him... but is there any other way to do this?

Also, maybe you guys can give me some insight on this, but I have two options for being a PA... which would you rather take?

Option 1:
Do the nuclear medicine program (2 years prereq+ 2 years Nuc Med school) work for two years then apply to Physician Asistant school or Anesthisiology school, both at Emory.

Option 2: Do the 3 year core prereqs+ 3 years PA program at Medical College of Georgia (not yet approved, but should be by May).

BTW I'm almost done with the 2 years of pre-reqs. THe 3rd year will be -statistics, general biology sequence, Organic chem, micribio, psych.

I'm also fighting myself over going to medical school. I'm 28 now, and I would like to go to medical school because I love helping people, but my family depend on me too much, and my fiance is great and supports me, and I'd hate to ignore her for most of the med school time + 3 more years of a residency REALLY ignoring her and making her take care of the kids if we happen to have any by then.

Decisions, decisions.

call both hospitals and pa programs in your area to get hooked up with a working pa.ask if you can follow them for a while to see what they do. 100 hrs isn't all that much after all. it is <3 weeks full time.

You'd think I'd get on his nerves... Which option do you think is best?

Call a local hospital that uses pa's. we often take students for up to 6 weeks so 3 weeks is not that big a deal....

Thank you sir. I really appreciate it.

Whats the 3 core + 3 yr PA for MCG? I am changing from IT as well and looked at MCG. I saw that they only had a Masters in PA.
Is this the same? I wonder if the program is competitve?
