If you faced some type of adversity which directly caused you to struggle at any point during your undergraduate years...should you only explain the situation in the specific section provided in the AADSAS app. or should you also include it within your personal statement? If so, what would be the best way to go about doing so without making it sound like a sob story?

Your personal statement really should really be kept on a positive note. You really don't need to mention your struggles in your personal statement unless it influenced your decision to pursue dentistry. Don't worry about it coming off as a sob story, just mention it in the designated section (if they have it).

I disagree. The personal statement is an EXCELLENT place to mention how you've overcome personal struggles as a student. It definitely shouldn't come off as a sob story, but could be used as an example of how you've overcome adversity.

second that.

you can mention something negative in your Personal Statement, but then turn it into something very posititve. What you learned from it, how it made you a better person.....
