A nurse I used to work with just graduated CRNA school. He showed me two of his offers, $170,000 and $166,000/yr, with an additional $100/hr over 40 hours/wk, plus full benefits and malpractice and whatnot. Just thought I would throw that out there.

Maybe he wants to be a nurse.

Have CRNA completely taken over the anesthesiologist speciality?

Yup, and anesthesiologists make double that.
at least....I just climbed mt shasta last week with an anesthesiologist. guy had money coming out every orifice. really nice guy though and not threatened at all by the crna's in his group. they delegated "easy cases" to the crna's and did all the hearts, etc themselves.

But the issue is going to be if the CRNA's are going to be content like that. A few years working underneath an anesthesiologist doing "easy cases" and they can lobby for increased autonomy and scope of practice based on their outcomes because they really only do "easy cases"

You're right doctors that make $850,000/yr grow on trees.

Dangit! Do they? I was hoping that would be me one day, but I did not grow on a tree....darn...
