did you apply to Howard? What do you think of the program and what were your reasons for applying? I love DC an and HU's campus I did also apply to GWU. I haven't heard many people mentioning Howards program. Just was wondering what anyone's opinion was. I tried doing research and the website is all under construction. Just curious! [=

Be aware that Howard is one of the few schools that requires students to take pre-requisites at a four-year university. I love Washington, DC too but I didn't apply because of that stipulation.

They were on probabtion for a yeard and at risk of not being reaccredited, but their current status is accreditation, so maybe they have everything ironed out.

Right???!!!! I saw that information. But with over half of there website under construction I was finding it hard to do any research on the program. Howard is my backup school, but I haven't seen anyone really mentioning Howard on this forum. I am starting to get concerned about Howards PT program.

Two years ago, I was visiting a local school around the DC area and I was told Howard was having problems with their accreditation. CAPTE says their accredited right now, so I'm not sure what's going on. I have met two people who graduated from Howard's program. One is a great PT, the other never took the board exam due to getting married & having babies.

I think their low number between that time had to do with their transition for the masters program to DPT in 2009. It might have tripped some people up. I'm actually attending Howard in the fall. They were my back up too and they came through in the end for me lol. Personally, I applied there because I love DC and I really wanted to experience the atmosphere in an HBCU professional school setting. I think it would also be nice to not be the minority in a class for once, especially for a profession that already has a low number of minorities representing it.
