It seems some thread explode with comments on the predent forum while others, including this one, did not. I really would like some imput for those in a position to help. For those of you either interviewing or already current students at Howard College of dentistry who also have children in elementary or junior high (I realize this may limit the responses), how do you feel about the living situation in Washington DC? Is there any location to live that can provide a safe, conducive environment for one's children to grow and enjoy life? I've heard that it is unsafe in the city. I have an interview with Howard later this month and I am seriously considering going if accepted. My concern however is the aforementioned stuff above. Any and all replies will be welcomed. Thanks ahead for your replies.

Northern Virginia, in general, is a very wealthy suburban area and the schools are superb. You could live in NOVA, and commute to DC via the metro.
