As I have previously posted, I'm taking physics I&II as well as chem I&II this summer and so far my pre-req GPA is a 4.0. I'm a little bit worried about what's going to happen to GPA now that I'm in class 12 hours a day and have a ridiculous amount of work due everyday--I don't think I've gone to bed before 3 am since classes started two weeks ago.

So anyway....how'd everyone who got into PT school do with chem and physics? I just had my first chem exam and it was interesting--my teacher doesn't really teach so I had to basically read the text to get any actual information. And my first physics exam is wednesday--I've done really well on all the labs, but our exam is 4 questions on the equations of velocity and motion as well as force....sooooooooo.....thanks for your responses! I'm pretty nervous about doing well in these courses and I'd just like some feedback!

Thanks!

I'm not in PT school yet, I misread the initial question, oops!

But I did:

Chem 1: C+
Chem 2: B
Physics 1: A
Physics 2: A-

Chem 1&2: A
Physics (or PhySUCKS) 1&2: A-

Headed to PT school this fall.

My GPA busters: Anatomy I/II ironically (B-,B+).

Chem I: A
Chem II: B+

Phys I&II: A

That second semester of chem II... man. sucks

Chemistry sucks period! I've never struggled so hard in school, never gotten a C either

Seeing that you guys struggled with chemistry,do you thinks i should take it for summer school(5 weeks)?

Chem I: A
Chem II: B+
Physics I and II: C+

Ha ha nolegirl, I love 'physucks'. XD

If you did okay in chemistry in high school, and have taken a summer class in undergrad before, I think it's safe to say you'll be fine taking it over the summer.

well i had chemistry in high school before, but i have not yet to take a summer course before. (I am ending my freshman year) As for high school, i averaged out a b-.

Do you think i should still take it?
what type of test is chemistry like?
a bit of math/memorization?

A bit of math for chem 1, mostly conceptual. Almost no memorization if i recall correctly. The most I remember having to memorize were periodic trends, and strong/weak acids and bases. Besides that, it was all interactions and concepts based off of this.

For us its a lot of conversions...moles to atoms to grams...so math is huge. But like I said before, my professor doesn't teach. She will introduce a concept for 2 minutes and then expect that you know the ins and outs of it 5 minutes later after she vaguely goes over it....its ridiculous.

I'm more worried about Physics than anything else.

For me, obviously, physics was much easier than chemistry. It looks like your chemistry is about the same as mine. I had a better teacher for chem 1, but was a terrible student.

If you learn factor label for doing chemistry you will be golden; no use memorizing useless things when you can factor label your way through anything.

I loved both Chem & Physics and got As in all 4 classes.

Hang in there, kcrat-- you got this! 🙂

Chem I: B- (took it my very first semester of college and was not ready for it!)
Chem II: B+

Physics I: B-
Physics II: C+ (my last semester, bad case of senioritis!)

Throw my hat in the ring:
Physics1&2: B-
Chem 1&2: A to A+ range.

I swear I will not let the Physics go. If I wasn't already excepted, I would take it over again and buss it str8 in the mouth(meaning getting a 3000%on all tests/labs) Lol, yes I am one of those!😡

Well, I am proud to say that I got a 94% on my first chem exam and an 85% on my first physics exam this week. And I've gotten 100% on all labs and homeworks for both classes, so things are looking up so far...a little bit bitter about my 85% on the phys exam to be honest. He only gave us 4 questions worth 25 points each and I totally bombed the last question (at least he gave me 10 points). I thought about it on the drive home and realized what I had done wrong, so I'm kicking myself...wahhh!

but so far things are going okay....just a little bit swamped this week and totally not into doing any work whatsoever this weekend. motivation needed....ah

Akira,

I'm just wondering if you've already gotten into PT school or at least applied yet. This is because I got exactly the same grades as you did for Chem I II and Physics I II and I'm nervous that those grades will shot down lots of my application...let me know so I can get a reality check here now...

kcrat,

Firstly, hope you do well this summer with all these hard classes. I will join you in a couple weeks with my anatomy class for 6 weeks. By the way, how do you take chem I&II and physics I&II simultaneously? Isn't it like 4 class there? Just curious...

We have two 5 week sessions here. So I'm taking Chem I and Phys I right now. And then in a few weeks I'll take Chem II and Phys II. Knocking it all out in 10 weeks with a week break in between. It's rough. And I have a chem exam tomorrow that I am soooooooo not ready for.

you got this!!!!!!!!!! 🙂 🙂

Well I'm proud to say that I finished my first summer session of Chem I and Physics I yesterday! I'm still alive so that's good. I'm not sure of my grades but I think I did okay! It wasn't as bad as I thought it would be. If I had to guess I would say...

Chem: A-/B+
Physics: B+/B

So...success! yay!

Thanks for your support guys and gals, you all rock!!!

Week break...then on to the next (and FINAL!) pre-req session before I can apply!!!!! yay!!!!! there is a light at the end of the tunnel finally! :luck:

Heck yeah! 🙂 That's pretty awesome considering you took them at the same time-- you should be proud of yourself! 🙂

And, you know I'm going to tell you- you can do it!! Haha. Halfway through!! ENJOY THAT BREAK!

LET'S GO!!!!👍 Congrats, and keep pushing!

Are you hangin' in there, kcrat? I'm just about finished with my last pre-req, and start school in January! 👍

Chem 1: B
Chem 2: A
Physics 1: A
Physics 2: A (will be done in another week!)

I am hanging in there--I'll be finished tomorrow!

Chem I: A
Physics I: B
Physics II: If I get no less than an 86 on the final tomorrow I will have an A in the class.

Sadly, I had to drop Chem II because the professor who taught the first part decided she didn't want to teach the second part and hired some RIDICULOUS professor who treated us all like grad school chem majors working on our PhDs. He gave all of us failing grades on our first exam and our first three lab reports. I wasn't going to chance getting a horrible grade and screwing up my application when I study my butt off all the time (I literally studied for 8 hours for the first exam and NOTHING that I studied was on the test even though he gave us a practice exam to go off of). It just wasn't fair or worth it. Interestingly, there were only four of us in the class, so two of us dropped and he ended up not teaching due to low enrollment. It was weird. But I got my money back...So I still have Chem II to take over the next year (or more if I don't get in anywhere).

Congrats to you! Good luck! Where are you going to PT school?

Ah, that sucks, kcrat! I really don't understand those types of teachers--they set their students up to fail, and you know it doesn't do their reputation any favors either.
I'll be going to the University of Findlay. I'm just happy to be done with summer classes--it is a lot of info to stuff into a few weeks, so cheers to us!

Hey everyone, i was wondering if anyone can offer some advice or just provide their input on my current situation. I currently have a cum GPA of 3.18 and a pre requisite gpa of 3.1. I know that both of these are on the low side for getting into most schools but i am still going to give it my best shot. I have volunteered and worked at various PT settings and i have four letters of recommendations. One from a college professor, two physical therapists and one MD. I am applying to schools all over the NY and would love to here some feed back. I also have a learning disability (visual processing disorder) does that make any difference on the admissions committee reviewing my application? Thanks!!!!
Sincerely,
Cory

I got an A in Physics II!!!! yippy!!!!!!!

that is all. 🙂

Congrats kcrat!!! I'm taking Physics 1, Chem 1, and Anatomy this fall. I've been a bit worried about it, because I'm really shooting for all A's, but when I see what you were able to accomplish this summer, I know I can do it! Thanks for the inspiration!

I too am taking Chem 1, Physics 1, and Human Physiology in the fall semester. Any advice on how to succeed in these courses, particularly chemistry and physics? This will definitely be my most challenging semester yet and I am wondering how to do well in these classes. Thanks!

I second this!

I'm taking Chem and Physics 1 and Animal Biology. Good luck this semester adh!

To you as well MisterBurns I am a little anxious to get the semester started. Chemistry and Physics have never been strong points of mine, so I am preparing to work!

Chem I: B+
Chem II: A
Physics I: A
Physics II: A

I had to work my tail off, especially in physics. My first semester of physics, grades in my other classes suffered, but it had a lot to do with the teacher, as I was 1 of probably 4 people that got an A in there.
