I just saw my lab final grade for my chem class. I was at a B- before the final. On the final, all answers were to be transferred to an answer sheet. I noticed that there were 2 questions that, I circled the correct answers on, but then wrote something else down. Unfortunately, I have calculated my grade, and I have made a very painful discovery. This small human error could literally pull my grade down to a C+ for the class. Do you think there is some way I could convince my professor to help me out? I would hate for this to happen to me, for my GPA to significantly drop all because of one tiny, minute, minuscule little formality.....

unfortunately it happens, i know because i've done it before too but that is a tough sell. i've seen professors be a bit more lenient with borderline grades but not on the basis of someone asking. sorry that happened to you, but who knows, maybe you'll still get a B-

E-mail her and see what she'll say. Chances are, if you were able to take home the test where you circled your answers, she will not allow a regrade due to obvious reasons. As what @takeonme says, maybe she be lenient and still give a B-?

I did not take the exam home. I just don't see a way I could convince the professor to do this....this is extremely aggravating. If I get a C+, my already trashy GPA is going to take a blow

Email her regarding it, and try to meet her ASAP

Don't email!! Try to meet in person ASAP if at all possible. I had a B+/A- borderline grade in stats and I passively emailed my professor.... I never heard back from them 🙁

I made this mistake all the time in undergrad. Eventually, I started to go over my test when finished to compare the answers I circled vs. the answers I marked on the scantron. I found mistakes nearly every time.

You can try to talk to the prof; but seriously, I think probability is low that the grade will change. If it it had been a mechanical/system failure, your chances would be great; but since it was your error, well. . .
It so sucks. So sorry.
