Hunter College is ruining chances of many students

What does "artificially delaying" mean?
Reapplicants are required to fill out an update application for a committee letter. Why they can`t just send an old last year version of that letter?! It`s a rhetoric question...

Med schools require a committee letter from colleges / universities that have pre-health office.

Not all pre-health offices write committee letters, so this cannot be true.

Only some schools require the letter if your school offers one. You might be stuck wrt those schools, but you could always explain that you can't get it in a timely fashion.

Either way, blaming others is never attractive.

Learn the phrase: "Sir, no excuse, sir."

You don`t understand the whole situation. First of all, med schools prefer a committee letter rather than three recommendation letters. At least that`s what most schools say on their web sites. Second, if you spent 4 years of your undergraduate school collecting all required evaluations and letters for a committee letter, why do you need "Individual letters + interfolio" if your committee letter had already been written? And finally: "Not all pre-health offices write committee letters, so this cannot be true".

But my school does and I want my letter to be submitted early to be competitive. Does it make sense Mr. URM ?

Jesus no don't do this to your own thread.

Not sure why you have to be an ass here but why would you want them to just upload last year's committee letter? What about anything you have done in the past year? You don't want them to talk about your growth as a re-applicant?

You want his professors/pre-med committee to talk about what he has done as a re-applicant? Uh, I doubt they're going to write about non-academic stuff and not everyone can afford to continue taking college classes after they've already graduated.

A committee letter 100% talks about non-academic stuff.. and not sure who said anything about taking college classes. Not to mention he could have applied after Junior year and taken another full year of classes..

End of the day, you need to improve your application SOMEHOW. Why wouldn't you want an updated committee letter that reflects on your improvement.. a major part of your story as a re-applicant

Not sure why you have to be an ass here but why I need to pay another $2000 to find myself in a similar situation second year in a row.

There are many options to discuss/talk/write about improvements and updates, e.g. personal statement, secondaries, interviews, letters of update, etc.

And one MAJOR one is your committee letter.

Are you using the same PS this year?
Are you going in with the same exact GPA, MCAT and ECs?
Are you using the same secondary essays?

I'm hoping all those answers are no.. so why would you want to use an outdated committee letter.

I love sarcasm and douchebaggery though. I'm sure you'll be fine and this played no role in your committee sandbagging you. They obviously have it out for you.

Just understand that you already failed. You're a re-applicant and you're using the same letter? Goodbye.

👍

I don't see how you think this is a good idea. You're a reapplicant and you're recycling something from an application that wasn't good enough to get in anywhere? Lolwut?

Maybe the letter was the reason you got rejected in the first place...

Going to cheap colleges are the best options 😎

Despite the poor delivery of this thread, I think there is a good point here...

Committee letters can be a hurdle that have the potential to significantly delay your ability to be complete. I'm glad I didn't go to a school with one even though it wasn't a criterion for me initially.

I hope you have to reapply AGAIN.

I don't... He's probably better off applying to something else... DO maybe? Perhaps podiatry? Maybe a nice career scheduling shifts at the local Burger King.

I would kill for a job scheduling shifts at the local burger king right now. I need money 🙁
